LOGISTICS UPDATES

Please be informed that this year, Category 1 to Category 7 are held in Main Hall/Downstairs. This year, we received 30% increased in participation, especially in Age 4 to 13 years old.

Please find listed below is the estimate start timing for each category.

MAIN HALL, DOWNSTAIRS Start Time Estimate 

  • Category 1. Age up to 4:  10:00am
  • Category 2. Age 5: 10:30am
  • Category 3. Age 6: 11:00am
  • Category 4. Age 7: 11:30am
  • Category 5. Age 8: 12:00pm
  • Category 6. Age 9: 12:30pm
  • Category 7. Age 10: 1:00pm

Total participants = 136

Judges will judge participants according to these: Makhraj 20%, Tajweed 20%, Qiraat 20%, and Memorization 40%

Notes:

  • Makhraj - Pronunciation of each alphabet( Part of Tajweed )
  • Tajweed - All rules of Tajweed, such as Rules of Mad, Rules of Tanween and Noon Sakinah, etc.
  • Qiraat - How beautiful the recitation is
  • Memorization - No mistakes in memorizing the Surah, verse by verse

Please be informed that this year’s upper category and Huffaz Category are held in 2nd floor/Upstairs.

Please find listed below is the estimate start time for each category.

For Huffaz categories, 1Juz/3Juz/6Juz/10Juz/15Juz/25Juz, every Judge of a panel of 3 Judges will test each participant. Judge will choose a verse/ayah within their categories, which a participant has to start reciting until is asked to stop. Judge will assess his/her memorization skills.

3 Surahs - An-Nasr(110), Al-Kauthar(108), and Al-Asr(103)

Category 2. AGE 5:

3 Surahs - Al-Ma'un(107), Al-Quraish(106), and Al-Fil(105)

Category 3. AGE 6:

4 Surahs - Al-Falaq(113), Humazah(104), At-Takathur(102), and Al-Qari'ah(101)

Category 4. AGE 7:

5 Surahs - Al-Feel(105), Al-A’diyat(100), Al-Zalzalah(99), Al-Bayyinah(98), and At-Tin(95),

Category 5. AGE 8:

4 Surahs - Al-Ma'un(107), Al-Bayyinah(98), At-Tin(95), and Al-Layl(92)

Category 6. AGE 9:

RULES:

  • Every Age Category is assigned numbers of Surah. On the day of the competition, the participant will be given 2 attempts of randomly picking off the Surah using a shuffle in a bowl to pick the Surah for the participant. If the 2 Surah picked for a participant, he/she passes it over, then the participant could pick whichever Surah within its Age Category assigned Surah. 3rd try is where a participant can choose any Surah she/he likes. There is a penalty of 5% of each Surah passed by the Participant for a maximum of 10% penalty.
  • For the Huffaz Category, a participant will let know what Juz he wants to be tested to a panel of 3 Judges on the competition day. Every Judge will pick a Verse/Ayah and recite it, and the participant has to finish reciting it until a Judge says stop, followed by another Judge until all 3 Judges will have their Verse/Ayah picked.
  • Anyone registered for Huffaz Category does not qualify for Age Category (Category 1 to 10)
  • Judges will judge participants on Makhraj 20%, Tajweed 20%, Qiraat 20%, and Memorization 40%

Quran memorization will be judged by a panel of judges. There will be two shifts with three Judges per shift.

PRIZES:

  • 1st Place $50 -  2nd Place $30 - 3rd Place $20
  • Every participant will receive an eid token of $5
  • All Prizes and tokens will be in the form of e-token. Certificates will be in the form of an e-certificate.
  • Winners will be announced the next day via WhatsApp Group, and Masjid Salam website and emails.
