Voting Clerk Positions for Election 2020

Assalamu Alaykum

We are in need for people to volunteer to serve as Voting Clerks in the upcoming Early Elections for 2020.  The Multi-purpose Hall (gym) at Masjid AlSalam has been approved as an election polling location for early elections, from Oct 13th to Oct 30th, as well as the regular elections on Nov 3rd.

Voting Clerk’s work includes:

1) as Greeters:
  • sit at a table near the entrance to the voting area to greet each voter in English
  • remind voters to not use any electronic devices within the polling room (including taking pictures)
  • remind voters have their photo ID out and ready to hand to the qualifying clerks
  • remind voters to maintain social distancing and to wear a mask while within the polling area
2) as Voter Qualifiers:
  • scan a voter’s photo ID into the iPad poll book
  • check the voters name and address against what is on their photo ID
  • use a hand-held scanner to generate a random number on a slip of paper that the voter can then take to a poll booth to cast their ballot
  • determine if the voting credentials have discrepancies, and ask the voter to fill out certain forms ordirect them to the Presiding or Alternate Judge to handle any issues
Training is provided once approved to work as a Voting Clerk.
Both training and election shifts are paid at $17/hour.  There will be two shifts each day:
