Competition Rules:
- Please review the updated categories and rules, which have been revised by our esteemed Imam, Shaykh
Abdurrahman Hejazi.
Category Registration:
- Participants may register for only one category.
- Participants can register in their age-appropriate category or higher.
There are 8 categories for the competition as follows:
Category 1 to 3:
Cat 1: Up to 6 Years (4 Surahs): Al-Fatiha (1), Al-Ikhlas (112), Al-Falaq (113), An-Nas (114)
Cat 2: Up to 9 Years (12 Surahs): Al-Asr (103) to An-Nas (114)
Cat 3: Up to 11 Years (22 Surahs): Ad-Duha (93) to An-Nas (114) ( Eligibility - Not memorized 1 or more Juz)
Participation Criteria - The Shuffle Bowl
- Participants pick a Surah from the shuffle bowl.
- If unable to recite, a 5% penalty applies, and they may pick another Surah.
- After two failed attempts (10% total penalty), participants may choose any Surah from their category
without using the bowl.
Judging Criteria:
- Makhraj (Pronunciation): 20%
- Tajweed (Rules): 15%
- Qiraat (Recitation Quality): 20%
- Memorization Accuracy: 45%
Category 4 to 8:
Cat4: Last 1 Juz (Juz 30-Amma): An-Naba (78) to An-Nas (114) ( Eligibility - Not memorized 2 or more Juz )
Cat 5: Last 2 Juz: Juz 29-Tabarak & Juz 30-Amma ( Eligibility - Not memorized 3 or more Juz )
Cat 6: Last 3 Juz: Juz 28- Qad Sami', Juz 29- Tabarak & Juz 30-Amma ( Eligibility - Not memorized 4 or more Juz )
Cat 7: Any 5 Juz of choice ( Eligibility - Not memorized 10 or more Juz )
Cat 8: Any 10 Juz of choice ( Eligibility - Not memorized 20 or more Juz )
Participation Criteria
- Participants in Category 7 and 8 must inform the judges of the Juz they wish to be tested on.
- Judges will select verses (ayah) for recitation.
- Participants will continue reciting until the judge says "stop," with this process repeated by all three judges.
Judging Criteria:
- Makhraj (Pronunciation): 30%
- Tajweed (Rules): 15%
- Qiraat (Recitation Quality): 20%
- Memorization Accuracy: 35%
Prizes:
All participants will receive $5 EID token. • Winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd Place) in each category will receive Certificate and a Gift Card.
